Windows 11: Recall function continues to cause headaches for operating system developers

A clash between updates

Deployed last week, some users of the Windows Insider program may have noticed that the service does not work at all. In response, Microsoft explained where the problem came from, but without providing any solution to users affected by the problem. Thus, users indicate that Windows Recall does not take any screenshots (this is supposed to be its main function). In response, Microsoft posted a message on its blog, to indicate that this problem occurs with users who have installed patch KB5046740 (the preview update for November) and then developer patch 26120.2415.

To counter the problem, Microsoft offers a single solution: “We recommend that you do not install this preview update before joining the developer patch until the defect is fixed in a later update“. In other words, if you already notice the problem, you don't have much else to do except wait. If you haven't installed the KB5046740 preview update, then everything should work as it should. One thing is certain: with Windows Recall, Microsoft teams have had plenty to work with for several months!
