The display market is constantly evolving, and Apple generally takes its time to adopt new technologies. Although Oled has arrived since the iPhone iPhone 14 Pro to have an adaptive refresh rate 1-120 Hz and always-on mode. For Apple Watches, 1 Hz only arrived with the Series 10and iPads have only tasted Oled in 2024 with the models Pro under M4 chip.

New developments could well take place in 2025 with the iPhone 17 Probut the following years would be even more interesting for the Apple firm. Indeed, the analysis firm Omnidia has shared an interesting roadmap about the display technologies of upcoming Apple products.

Obviously giving pride of place to Oled, we first discover that theiPad mini would switch to this panel technology between mid 2025 and mid 2027. Unsurprisingly, the refresh rate would remain 60 Hz here. At the same period, Apple would consider embedding the technology Tandem Oled of iPad Pro M4 on MacBook Pros. Note, the notch would disappear to leave only a punch for the webcam.

This would be followed between mid-2026 and mid-2028 by Apple's mid-range tablets, the iPad Air, which would still be limited to 60 Hz. Omnidia then announces MacBook Air under Oled screen with variable refresh rate (ProMotion) by mid-2027 at least.

According to the analysis firm, this launch window would also be an opportunity for Apple to launch a large folding device, equipped with an 18.8-inch Tandem Oled screen. This is in line with previous predictions arounda folding MacBook. Finally, we also note a renewal of the iPad Pro screen, with the potential use of new screen technologies.

Interestingly regarding this roadmap, screen market analyst Ross Young aligns with Omnidia's predictions. “I presented something similar yesterday at the Oled World Summit,” he shares in response to the cabinet roadmap relayed by Jukanlosreve. He still highlights a minor difference: the use of a panel with an oxide backplane instead of LTPO on the Oled MacBook Air. News which highlights that the refresh rate will not drop to 1 Hz.
