Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: finally 16 GB of RAM, but at what price?
After limiting its Ultra models to 12 GB of RAM since 2022, Samsung could offer two versions of its Galaxy S25 Ultra with 16 GB of RAM, one associated with 512 GB of storage, the other 1 TB. However, the basic version, equipped with 256 GB of storage, would retain 12 GB of RAM, in order to satisfy users looking for high performance.
This development, revealed on X/Twitter by the informant Jukanlosreve, would respond to growing resource needs, particularly for the processing of artificial intelligence functions, which have become essential in premium smartphones. The competition – Oppo, Xiaomi, Vivo and even Google – has already standardized this configuration on its flagship models, often at more competitive prices.
Performance optimized for AI and multitasking
The 16GB RAM models should provide a better user experience for multitasking, demanding games, and AI-based applications. By increasing the RAM, Samsung is targeting a demanding audience, keen to have a device capable of handling complex tasks with fluidity. To appeal, the manufacturer could also set up pre-order offers similar to those offered by Google, in particular a free upgrade to the higher version. An approach which has already borne fruit in the past and could encourage customers to opt for high-end models.
More discreet changes
If this RAM update is significant, the other hardware developments of the Galaxy S25 Ultra could be more modest. The smartphone would be equipped with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, but the screen and battery would remain unchanged. On the design side, recent leaks suggest a return to more rounded lines, breaking with the angular edges of its predecessors.
An imminent launch
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to be revealed at an Unpacked event on January 23, 2025, with an official release expected in the following weeks. If Samsung manages to balance innovation and accessibility, this model could once again rise among the best smartphones of 2025. However, if the brand accompanies its high-end models with attractive promotions, we should expect an inevitable price increase.
