Xiaomi unveiled its SU7its very first electric car. Launched in China at a price slightly cheaper than that of a Tesla Model 3, while being larger, the SU7 now achieves monthly sales volumes equivalent to those of its American rival in the country. It even allowed Xiaomi Auto to become the fastest car manufacturer in history to reach the milestone of 100,000 cars produced since its birth.

Unsurprisingly, Xiaomi was working on an SUV to support its SU7. The brand has now made the model official, which this time will compete with the Tesla Model Yon Weibo. Named YU7, it takes up the aesthetic codes of the SU7, but with a silhouette reminiscent of the sportiest SUVs on the market, such as the Ferrari Purosangue.

If the family resemblance between the sedan and the SUV is obvious, the YU7 avoids looking like an SU7 stretched in height, unlike a certain Tesla Model Y compared to a Model 3. However, it is good to an SU7 on steroids in question. The YU7 measures 4999 mm long, only 2 mm more than the SU7, and 1996 mm wide, some 33 mm more than the sedan, but above all 1600 mm high, when the SU7 peaks at 1440 mm. .

Up to 691 hp for the Xiaomi electric SUV

Xiaomi has not yet revealed the interior of its YU7. To tell the truth, the brand is not announcing anything more, except for marketing in June or July 2025. However, as is often the case in China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) tells us learns more by revealing some of the information provided by Xiaomi for the sake of the approval of the model, unearthed by CarNewsChina.comincluding the dimensions previously mentioned. We know that the YU7 will be launched with an engine with two electric motors of 220 kW (299 hp) at the front and 288 kW (392 hp) at the rear, for a cumulative power of 508 kW (691 hp) . This technical sheet, even slightly more muscular than that of the SU7 Max, would allow the YU7 to reach a top speed of 253 km/h. The SUV, weighing 2,405 kg, will receive, according to MIIT, an NMC lithium-ion battery with CATL cells, the capacity of which is still unknown. This information should concern the high-end version of the YU7.

It remains to be known the prices of this new model. While the SU7 was launched at ¥215,900 (around €28,100), slightly cheaper than a Tesla Model 3 in China, we can logically imagine that the YU7 will follow this same logic. The entry-level version of the model could thus be sold for less than ¥249,900 (around €32,500) demanded by a Model Y in China.
