Disney+: here is the price to pay to continue to share your account in France
Account sharing continues to attack consumers' wallets. After Netflix, Disney+ vigorously attacked this practice during the year 2024. After the United States, France is preparing to experience a paid option to share its account.
Disney+ copies Netflix
The Americans have been paying for a few months $6.99 per month to have an additional user to a Basic account or $9.99 for a Premium account.
The good news in the story is that this commercial practice has still not spread to France. Although the practice was formally prohibited by Disney+it was always possible to share your identifiers to share your subscription with your loved ones.
The situation is unfortunately about to change, given that Disney+ has announced that an additional €4.99 per month will soon have to be paid to add a user to their account. Unlike Netflixit is only possible to have one additional account linked to your Disney+ subscription.
It now remains to know the exact date of implementation of this paid account sharing. Relayed by the Journal du Geek this December 12, 2024, this information from a recent conference on the streaming platform does not provide this information.
However, we can read on a support page of Disney+ that its launch is still planned for “later this year”, which suggests activation in the days to come… just in time for the end-of-year holidays.
