Malcolm (Disney+): everything we know about the return of the cult series
Reboots and sequels to series from the 2000s are all the rage these days in Hollywood. After Scrubs And prison Breakit's the turn of Malcolm to return to our screens soon. Four new episodes of this cult sitcom broadcast between 2000 and 2006 will indeed see the light of day on the streaming platform Disney+. This is all we know about this revival.
What a story for the return of Malcolm ?
According to the official synopsis of this sequel, we will find Malcolm, now a father himself, as he finds himself drawn into the chaos of his family with his daughter when Hal and Lois ask him to attend a party for their 40th wedding anniversary.
We therefore expect that the story will unfold around and during this celebration, and that nothing will go as planned for this crazy family.
As reported by our colleague VarietyDisney+ has ordered four new episodes of Malcolm which will be headed by the creator of the series himself, Linwood Boomer.
However, we do not yet know when they will be released.
Who will be in the cast of this series Malcolm ?
If Bryan Cranston (Hal), Frankie Muniz (Malcolm) and Jane Kaczmarek (Lois) have confirmed that they will be back for this misadventure, we do not yet know what he has for the rest of the siblings of Malcolm.
However, it's hard to imagine Lois and Hal celebrating an event like their 40th wedding anniversary without their other children, Francis, Reese and Dewey, played respectively by Christopher Masterson, Justin Berfield and Erik Per Sullivan in the original series.
There may be someone absent, especially since Berfield and Sullivan are no longer active in Hollywood, but that the three do not appear in this revival seems improbable to us.
The fifth son in the family, Jamie (who was only a toddler in the original series) could also be there, probably in the guise of a new actor.
- The credits of Malcolm :
It would also not be surprising to see these new episodes give us news of certain other secondary characters of Malcolm like her best friend Stevie (Craig Lamar Traylor) or Craig (David Anthony Higgins), Lois' colleague who always had a crush on her.
Either way, Disney promises “laughter, jokes and mayhem” for these new episodes with also “a few surprises that remind us why this series is so timeless.”
Waiting to know when exactly Malcolm will be back for this sequel, you can rewatch all seven seasons of the original series streaming on Disney+.
