While Apple still thinking about a folding iPhoneAndroid smartphone brands continue their journey in this market. Moreover, OnePlus is preparing to announce its second iteration in the field, the Open 2.

While waiting for the officialization, rumors are obviously there. Digital Chat Station also had fun this December 16, 2024 by sharing the first elements on the Find N5, Chinese version of the OnePlus Open 2.

Without much surprise, we first discover that the latest high-end chip made by Qualcomm would be there, aka the Snapdragon 8 Elite. For information, the leaker specifies that this model “could be able” be the only one to run under this processor during the first half of 2025. We would thus wait until the Samsung's next Galaxy Zor next summer, to see new folding ones taking advantage of it.

Second point mentioned by Digital Chat Station: wireless charging, absent from the first generation. The OnePlus Open 2 would thus be ready to compete with other manufacturers already offering the technology on their folding phones, including Honor, Motorola, and of course the market leader, Samsung.

Among the other strings added to its bow, OnePlus' next folding phone would play the game of water resistance, with IPX8 certification (compared to IPX4 previously). This means it would go from providing simple splash protection to being resistant to submersion in water up to at least 1 meter deep for more than 30 minutes.

The last elements of the technical sheet shared finally reveal the arrival of a 50 Mpx periscopic lens,a slimmer design and light as well as improved autonomy.

The Oppo Find N5 is expected for the first quarter of 2025, which suggests an international launch immediately. Just as for the Xiaomi 15 Ultrathe MWC taking place at the end of February could be the ideal event to announce the beast outside Chinese territory.
