Technically, the DCU by Peter Safran and James Gunn is already launched. The honor of starting hostilities indeed returned a few days ago to the animated series Creature Commandos on the streaming platform Max.

However, we could estimate that this show, as nice as it is, ultimately only serves as an appetizer before the real introduction to the next film. Superman directed by James Gunn, expected in July 2025. The latter has also just fed the teaser machine with a new animated poster.

“Lift your head”

Unsurprisingly, the Man of Steel is central. Played this time by David Corenswet (Pearl), Kal-El/Superman takes flight with a musical background that will delight connoisseurs.

Since this one is not just any one: it is a variation of the legendary theme composed by a certain John Williams for the 1978 film directed by Richard Donner. The pressure on composer John Murphy's shoulders must be felt.

To the rest of the cast of this Superman about which we don't yet know much except that it will be inspired by the All-Star Superman comics, Rachel Brosnahan (The Fabulous Mrs. Maisel) will be Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road) will be Lex Luthor. (Very) many other characters should be there or at least stop by before having their own adventures in the DCU.

Let us cite in particular Nathan Fillion in Green LanternIsabela Merced as Hawkgirl, María Gabriela de Faría as the Engineer, Milly Alcock as Supergirl, Frank Grillo again as Rick Flag Sr, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho and many others.

James Gunn has clearly not decided to do things by halves for this ambitious reboot, which should propel his DCU planned over ten years.

The trailer is imminent

If this poster and this list of names are not enough for you, good news: the first trailer for the film will be posted online this Thursday, December 19 at 3 p.m. Although filming officially ended this summer, Gunn is currently in a phase of minor reshoots to finish wrapping up his feature film.

The appointment is made: Superman arrives in cinemas on July 9.
