Switch 2: here's when Nintendo's next portable console will be announced!
Rumors, always rumors… This has been the fate of the Switch 2 for months. All the information collected also makes it possible to get a good idea of the new features planned by Nintendo for its next console. There is still one unknown: the launch period.
Good news, things are starting to corroborate on this subject. In the latest news, the informant and content creator keen on the Japanese firm @NintenTalk shared this Monday, December 16 on Twitter/X that one of his contacts at a “major third party developer” mentioned a formalization in January 2025.
We would therefore be a few weeks away from the announcement of the Switch 2. @NintendoPrime also confirmed this same launch period, emphasizing that the wait should no longer be very long. Now we just have to wait until then. We still don't know what time of the month Nintendo will choose.
As a reminder, the first Switch was presented in October 2016, before being detailed on January 13, 2017, for marketing on March 3, 2027. There is therefore a chance that the plan will be similar, with a single presentation in very early in 2025 before a release in March.
Concerning the titles planned for the launch of the Switch 2, the rumors are quite calm. @NintenTalk still pointed out that players can “prepare to play modern AAA titles on your Switch 2 in 2025”.
Note in passing, a Mario Kart 9 is also a long-standing subject for Nintendo's next portable console, which would succeed the commercial success of the current title.
We therefore expect next year to be busy after Nintendo's latest big title for the Switch, Donkey Kong Returns, scheduled for January 16, 2025.
