iPhone SE 4: Apple could opt for a more meaningful name!
Apple is preparing to welcome a new addition to its range of smartphones during the first quarter of 2025: iPhone SE 4. According to a new rumor, this next affordable model would opt for a more meaningful name, and in the air of its technical sheet.
Fixed Focus Digital actually shared this December 13, 2024 via Weibo that we would instead be entitled to the following name: iPhone 16e. Having relayed the information, Notebook Check thus underlines that we would be facing a segmentation similar to 2013 and 2018.
During these periods, Apple chose to offer an iPhone 5c to complete the iPhone 5s range, and an iPhone XR for the iPhone XS range. They thus served as a “complement to the current generation iPhones sold at a lower price”, underlines the media.
With the iPhone SE 4, or iPhone 16e if the rumor is true, the Apple firm would return to a similar situation. It must be said that the technical sheet of this model has very few differences compared to the iPhone 16 entry-level.
As a reminder, this future successor to theiPhone SE 3 released in 2022 would be entitled to the following new specificities:
- 6.1-inch OLED display
- Notch with Face ID
- A18 chip and 8 GB of RAM
- Apple Intelligence
- iPhone 14 design * 48 MP main photo sensor
- MagSafe wireless charging
- USB-C port
- Action Button
- Apple 5G Modem
It would thus remain at theiPhone 16 as the Dynamic Island, the 12 Mpx ultra-wide-angle and the camera control button to differentiate itself. Including Apple's next affordable smartphone in the iPhone 16 range instead of separating it with the SE name would therefore make sense.
It now remains to be seen whether the company led by Tim Cook still wants to bet on it by choosing to timidly name it iPhone SE 4 or readjust the shot in view of the technical sheet by opting for the name iPhone 16e.
