- The story of Arkham begins: Batman: Arkham Origins features an all-new single-player campaign written by Dooma Wendschuh and Corey May, with the participation of Geoff Johns. Players take on the role of a Batman at the start of his career, who for the first time faces the supervillains who will change the course of his life.
- Improved Detective Mode: Batman's detective skills are put to the test with an all-new system that allows players to comb through crime scenes for key clues. Players use Batman's hood and the Bat-Computer to digitally recreate crime scenes, uncovering clues that the human eye could not detect.
- Gotham City as you've never seen it: Explore Gotham City before it became Arkham City, and discover unexplored locations and legendary locations from the Batman universe. The rich, dynamic environments house criminals of all kinds, indicate “crimes in progress” and include other content conducive to player exploration and immersion.
- Secondary missions: Track down criminals linked to the main plot but nevertheless independent. It is up to the player to decide if they want to complete these side missions.
- New enemies: Encounter new enemies such as the Armored Enforcer and Martial Artist that require the player to approach the Free Flow combat system differently.
- New gadgets: Use an arsenal of gadgets already featured in previous Batman: Arkham games, as well as new items such as the remote-controlled Bat-Claw, with which Batman can quickly incapacitate his enemies by attaching them to each other or to objects surroundings.
- Famous and unpublished characters: Meet many key characters from the DC Comics universe, including Black Mask, The Penguin, Deathstroke, Bane, Anarky, Police Officer Gordon, the Joker and many more
