The case:
The Seiko 5 Sports Skeleton SRPJ47K1 is housed in a 42mm stainless steel case with brushed finish. The case features a two-tone unidirectional rotating crown that features a 60-minute counting scale that is meant to resemble a fuel gauge. The grooved walls of the scope ensure that it always remains easily usable. A push-in crown is located at the 4 o'clock position, it is flanked on each side by crown guards, which prevent it from moving. Finally, Hardlex glass offers the advantage of being both scratch and shatter resistant.
The dial:
The skeleton-style dial pays homage to Seiko's beloved archive from the 1970s: “Time sonar.” The Time Sonar is a unique specification that shows the operation of the watch by displaying the day/date disc through the translucent dial. It features a simple, easy-to-read layout thanks to large applied hour markers and a silver-framed hand, both generously covered in LumiBrite material that allows for night-time visibility. A 60-second white track is printed on the chapter ring, which allows for more accurate time reading. A silver-framed date display window replaces the 3 o'clock marker, while the Seiko logo is located below the 12 o'clock marker.
The strap:
The watch is mounted on a classic 3-link Oyster style bracelet in brushed stainless steel. It features a folding clasp with micro-adjustments and a diver extension.
Functions:
This timepiece is equipped with the 4R36 automatic movement manufactured in-house by Seiko. It is a manual self-winding movement that offers a power reserve of 41 hours. It is waterproof up to 100 meters, which means it can be worn for swimming in shallow water.
