Kobra S1 combo 3D printer
549€ – Anycubic
The Anycubic Kobra S1 3D printer is the brand's first CoreXY model, compatible with the ACE Pro multi-filament module for color printing. Its printing volume is set at 250 x 250 x 250 mm in a closed enclosure, compatible with materials that require high temperatures.
The Kobra S1 print head features a Direct Drive extruder capable of printing up to 600 mm/s with PLA. Its hotend which can heat up to 320°C and the closed enclosure allows it to use more technical filaments, such as ABS and ASA. Flexible materials such as TPU are supported in direct extrusion but are not compatible with the ACE Pro multi-filament case. To use this option, the print head also uses a “cutter” and a purge system for changing the spool.
The CoreXY structure allows the Kobra S1 to print at high speed with good stability and reliability. Its closed housing helps contain the operating noise of the machine. The manufacturer announces 44 dB when printing. However, certain materials will require the door to be kept open and the noise level will therefore be higher.
The volume chosen by Anycubic is that of the standard of recent years in Core XY printer and multi-filament compatible. The brand has chosen here a 250 x 250 mm top, for a height of 250 mm as well. We can already imagine developments to the S1 with the possible appearance of larger versions (Kobra S1 Plus, Kobra S1 Max?)
The Anycubic Kobra S1 printer can be controlled remotely using integrated WiFi and appropriate software on the computer or the Anycubic Cloud mobile application. The Anycubic Slicer Next slicer is recommended by the brand, a program based on OrcaSlicer compatible with Windows and Mac. The printer firmware is based on Klipper, taken over by Anycubic.
Multi-colors with the Kobra S1 Combo
In the “Combo” version, the Anycubic Kobra S1 printer is accompanied by the ACE Pro module to use up to four reels on a single print. The addition of a second accessory box even allows you to double the number of filaments available for the same print.
The S1 expels purge waste out the back of the machine (like the Bambu Lab
