Aurvana Ace Mimi & SXFI: xMEMS drivers and Mimi hearing test for the new Creative headphones
Recognized for being the first manufacturer to have integrated xMEMS transducers into true wireless headphones, Creative presents two new iterations called Aurvana Ace SXFI and Aurvana Ace Mimi. Succeeding the Aurvana Ace and Aurvana Ace 2 launched last year, they promise better sound performance and more features. Thus, like their predecessors, these new headphones promise to be highly disruptive.
Aurvana Ace Mimi: integrated Mimi hearing test and LE Audio connectivity
Placed above the Aurvana Ace SXFI within the Creative range, the Aurvana Ace Mimi are first distinguished by the integration of Mimi Hearing technology. Thanks to a hearing test lasting just a few minutes carried out from the Creative app, the headphones would be able to establish a personalized sound profile based on the user's hearing ability.
As Creative's new premium earphones, the Aurvana Ace Mimi also features cutting-edge Bluetooth connectivity combining the high-resolution LDAC codec and compatibility with the LE Audio standard. Paving the way for the LC3 codec and Auracast technology, the latter offers reduced audiovisual latency and access to public audio sharing.
Sound architectures still under the sign of xMEMS
The Aurvana Ace SXFI and the Aurvana Ace Mimi share a unique acoustic architecture inherited from the previous generation. Each earpiece includes an xMEMS driver combined with a more traditional 10mm dynamic driver. According to Creative, this association would promote “crisp treble and deep bass“.
Full of promise, xMEMS technology presents multiple advantages. Operating by electrical pulses, xMEMS transducers would be insensitive to the distortions and vibrations inherent in traditional dynamic transducers using the magnetic field principle. Being also much smaller, lighter and more economical than traditional drivers, they would also take up less space within the hulls while offering more autonomy.
It should be noted, however, that Creative's xMEMS technology is currently dependent on associated dynamic transducers. So it's not quite ready yet.
Super X-Fi Gen 4 spatial audio technology and generous battery life
As for the new features shared by these two pairs of headphones, we note the integration of Super X-Fi Gen 4 spatial audio technology. According to the brand, it would raise “the listening experience at a higher level“while reproducing”the feel of a multi-speaker system“.
For the rest, the Aurvana Ace SXFI and the Aurvana Ace Mimi are as complete as classic headphones. From the noise reduction system and transparency mode to a set of 6 pickup microphones, including an IPX5 certification protecting them against bad weather, everything is there for a good listening experience on the go. Furthermore, both models promise up to 7 consecutive hours of battery life with noise reduction activated. We therefore expect above-average performance.
In view of the innovations introduced, the other real tour de force achieved here by Creative is their trade positioning. Indeed, the Aurvana Ace SXFI and the Aurvana Ace Mimi are already available at respective prices of only €99.99 and €129.99.
