iPhone storage is full because of Apple Intelligence

Apple Intelligence is available in France on compatible devices. At launch, the features required 4 GB of storage. But since the iOS 18.2 update, the amount has doubled to 7 GB.

Apple Intelligence always requires more space

The increase is explained by Apple's privacy policy. Most Apple Intelligence features run locally, requiring AI models to be downloaded. Note that the 7 GB requirement applies uniformly to iPhone, iPad and Mac.

The bad news is that it's not possible to reduce this size by turning off certain Apple Intelligence features. And the trend will continue with iOS 18.4 in April 2024 which will bring major changes to Siri.

9to5mac mentions up to 10 GB even before the release of the new features of iOS 19. As for iOS 18.3, the update would only correct bugs.

iOS 18.2 added many AI features, hence this increase in storage requirements: Genmoji, ChatGPT integration in Siri, Image Playground, Visual Intelligence, etc.
