LG S95AR & S20A

At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, LG has just unveiled two soundbars to complete its home cinema offering. Among them, we include the S95AR, its new Dolby Atmos reference, as well as an ultra compact and affordable model called S20A.

LG S20A: a simple and compact 2.0 soundbar for $100

Appearing to be just over 40cm long, the S20A soundbar ranks as one of the smallest models developed by the South Korean manufacturer. Reserved for televisions of 50″ and less, it is equipped with a 2.0 sound architecture, without a subwoofer included, and amplification developing 50 watts. In terms of compatibility, it is satisfied with standard Dolby and DTS sound formats, unfortunately without support for three-dimensional virtualization.

Connectivity is unsurprisingly limited to Bluetooth, so you can stream music from any source. Considering its compact format, the S20A should be quite effective for listening to music, with a soundstage a little wider than a traditional wireless speaker. In terms of connectivity, in addition to an HDMI input necessary for connecting a TV, it benefits from a USB-A port dedicated to hosting a USB key. A good point for collectors of Hi-Res audio files.

Despite its entry-level positioning, the small S20A is still equipped with some of the latest technologies from LG. In particular, we can count on AI Sound Pro, which uses an algorithm to automatically adapt the sound signature of the soundbar depending on the type of content being played. WOW Interface is also there to access different sound modes and a 3-band equalizer directly from the screen of an LG television.

In terms of availability, the LG S20A should be marketed in the coming months at a price of around $100.

LG S95AR: timid improvements for the LG Atmos reference model

LG having probably found its high-end formula for Dolby Atmos, the 9.1.5 LG S95AR soundbar is an almost exact copy of the S95TR launched in 2024. If it uses its wireless rear speakers, its high-end architecture speakers and its power of 810 W, it is distinguished by a slightly more imposing wireless subwoofer. We can therefore expect more immersion for a launch price similar to that of the S95TR.
