CES 2025 – SwitchBot renews its high-end robot for effortless clean floors
The S20 Pro is definitely not as amazing as the K20+ Proalso presented by SwitchBot at CES, but it is no less well equipped. It is also the best equipped of the two for maintaining the floors. It unsurprisingly takes up the basics of the S10+, but brings improvements in most areas, from suction to washing and design, for efficiency that we are obviously promised to increase.
Something new to clean corners better
The S20 Pro uses more or less the same equipment as its predecessor to remove dirt, but promises more powerful suction with 15,000 Pa announced, compared to 6,500 Pa. Above all, even if the central brush does not seem to see any big change, the brush head side is mounted on a motorized arm which allows it to extend into corners. Likewise, the mop – or rather the roller which is used to wash the floor, with the advantage of being rinsed continuously – can slide on one side to reach the walls. Of course, in order to anticipate walls and corners, the robot is always equipped with a laser range finder to map the house. An obstacle detection system is also visible on the front. SwitchBot doesn't say anything about the latter, but we still imagine it based on a camera and lasers.
A station with water connection or tanks
The other big new feature of the S20 Pro lies in its unique station. Exit therefore the two stations which made the S10+ special with the automatic emptying on one side and the water supply on the other. The new model comes with a so-called station all-in-one. It therefore combines water and dust and is available in two versions: one with clean water and dirty water tanks and another to be connected to a water inlet and outlet. Unfortunately, the latter is much less compact than the S10+ water station and it will be difficult to slide it under a kitchen or bathroom cabinet. SwitchBot specifies, however, that the S20 Pro is backwards compatible with the water station of the old model, as well as with its dehumidifier.
The S20 Pro should finally be Matter certified for integration into a connected home (we still note the use of the future in the press release). So this will certainly not be the case when it comes out. SwitchBot has not yet announced a date or price for its new robot.
