If you are up to date with the latest developments around binoculars, the product presented today by Unistellar, just ahead of the launch of CES 2025, may not seem so new to you. Indeed, the Envision binoculars have been revealed last summer during a crowdfunding campaign that raised $2.7 million.

If the backers will only be able to lay their hands on these binoculars in October 2026, the company, to which we already owe intelligent telescopes, has decided to detail its new solution at the Las Vegas show where they were rewarded.

After smart telescopes, smart binoculars

Designed in partnership with Nikon, the Envision are designed to observe both the stars and nature, day and night. Thanks to a mobile application and its database accessible online and offline, the binoculars can display several types of information in augmented reality, superimposed on the user's field of vision.

Beyond displaying the names of stars, comets and other galaxies (and a suggestion mode to know what to observe in the sky, and where), the binoculars can also display 3D maps to indicate paths and other refuges or even altitudes and azimuths in real time. A lock mode also allows you to lock a subject to pass the binoculars to someone else so that they can easily find the target. It is obviously possible to deactivate all of this to enjoy classic binoculars.
