In recent months, the arrival of a iPhone 17 Air promises to offer unparalleled finesse on Apple's smartphones at the start of the 2025 school year. A launch period that is still distant, which gives Samsung the opportunity to strike hard with a model in the same vein: the Galaxy S25 Slim.

Expected for the spring, this new model from the South Korean firm would reach approximately 6.5 mm in thickness according to a blog post published on January 3, 2025 by Sisa Journal.

It would thus become the thinnest in the Galaxy S range, surpassing the 6.8 mm of the Galaxy S6, and the future Galaxy S25 (between 7.2 mm and 8.2 mm thick). However, the golden palm would remain in the mid-range Galaxy A8 with its size of 5.9 mm.

The South Korean media then joins previous rumors about the iPhone 17 Air, with a fineness of 6.25 mmcompared to the 6.9 mm of the iPhone 6, Apple's thinnest smartphone. By the way, it would be a long way from the iPhone 16/16 Plus (7.8 mm), and even further from the iPhone 16 Pro (8.25 mm).

All this to say that Samsung would have judged its response to Apple well, with a Galaxy S25 Slim much thinner than the rest of its range and not far from the iPhone 17 Air. Sisa Journal adds that the objective of this new Galaxy S is obviously to respond to the Apple firm, “the price will therefore not be set at a high level”.

Samsung would thus consider maintaining a competitive advantage in terms of price, months before the arrival of Apple's ultra-thin model. As for the Cupertino company, this first test would be an opportunity to test the market, and thus to see if the response from consumers is sufficient to repeat the variation in subsequent years.

Note, Samsung would rely on other arguments than Apple to seduce, and in particular a much more muscular photo part. One of the sensors would also make it possible to achieve this finesse objective thanks to a recent technology from the company.
