Dreame X50 Ultra: the robot vacuum cleaner that wants to climb the stairs

It was in the utmost confidentiality that Dreame presented its robot vacuum cleaner, the X50, to the US press only. Our frustration is all the greater as the demonstrations around this new model seem interesting and for good reason. Dreame's new robot vacuum cleaner would be able to climb stairs. At least that's what we're supposed to believe but the reality is somewhat different because in reality, the Dreame X50 would actually be capable of climbing small markets, up to 6 cm in height.

So don't imagine (yet) a world in which robot vacuum cleaners could climb the stairs autonomously to clean the floors on different floors. Here, like the Roborock Qrevo Curvthe Dreame X50 benefits from a mechanism that allows it to propel itself slightly. Indeed, a small articulated and motorized arm allows it to rise, swing and propel itself on the steps to overcome high obstacles (always within a limit of 6 cm) such as the double thresholds of bay windows for example.

This maximum height is actually given for “complex double-layer thresholds”, broken down into a first layer of 4 cm and a second of 2 cm. This technology, called System ProLeap, should also allow the robot to climb thick carpets more easily.

200 types of objects identified for good obstacle management

In addition to its ability to climb obstacles, the X50 Ultra would be able, thanks to its retractable laser rangefinder and its front camera, to identify up to 200 types of objects, which would also allow it to better understand obstacles. With a suction power announced at 20,000 Pa, the Dreame X50 Ultra should be able to effectively clean both hard floors and long-pile carpets and rugs.

High-end positioning requires, it is accompanied by a multifunction station which automatically empties the dust collector and which has a tank of clean and dirty water to clean the skates. This station can also wash and dry mops using a hot air system.

Already launched in China, the Dreame X50 Ultra will be available for pre-order in the US from January at a price of $1,699. It will then be available on Amazon and on the Dreame website on February 14. Everything suggests that it will be sold immediately in Europe and particularly in France.
A more advanced version should also be launched: the Dreame X50 Master will be equipped with a station which, like the X40 Mastercan more easily pass under furniture and be directly connected to a water inlet and outlet.
