Technics is one of those historic audio manufacturers that has been able to adapt to technological developments and new listening modes. Indeed, if the Panasonic subsidiary is still well established in the hi-fi electronics sector and continues to delight audiophiles and DJs around the world with its SL-1200 vinyl turntables, it also has a range of portable products the height.

His first headphones true wireless EAH-AZ40 and EAH-AZ60 dating back to 2021, the Japanese brand made a fairly late entry into the wireless audio market compared to some competitors. It then quickly expanded its offering by unveiling its first nomadic headset EAH-A800 in 2022, before asserting a true high-end positioning with headphones EAH-AZ80whose ambition was to compete with the gondola heads from Sony, Bose and others.

Building on the critical success of the EAH-AZ80, Technics is back at it again by unveiling the EAH-AZ100 at CES 2025. Considered the new flagship of its range of in-ear headphones, they intend to improve the characteristics of their excellent elders.

A subtle blend of ergonomics and acoustic know-how

Equipped with transducers magnetic fluid Borrowed from the high-end EAH-TZ700 wired headphones, this new model features, above all, a completely redesigned acoustic architecture.

Based on the injection of an oil-type liquid filled with magnetic particles within the voice coil, this principle would improve the precision of the movements of the membrane. Thus, thanks to higher damping, the EAH-AZ100 would be able to deliver more precise bass, with a reduced distortion rate. The result of 6 years of R&D, this transducer would also promote smoother reproduction of the high-midrange, in order to present the music as naturally as possible.

For perfect integration within the EAH-AZ100, the size of these transducers inherited from the EAH-TZ700 has been reduced to 10 mm. Compared to the EAH-AZ80, the shells themselves have also been reduced for greater comfort. In order to achieve this, Technics would have notably miniaturized one of the microphones and opted for a more advanced processor. Their shape has also been slightly revised for the benefit of ergonomics. A very interesting point because, despite their perfectly adequate comfort, the EAH-AZ80 were classified among the most imposing wireless headphones on the market.

The EAH-AZ100 also stands out with a handful of new features and improvements. Among them is a technology called Voice Focus AI, which combines call personalization features with AI noise-reduction microphones. Without announcing superior noise reduction performance, Technics nevertheless declares having added an adaptive system that automatically modulates the isolation mode depending on the environment.

With particular emphasis placed on connectivity, Google Fast Pair is also added to the list. If we can also note the integration of a spatial audio mode branded Dolby and compatibility with QI wireless chargers, the EAH-AZ100 would really stand out thanks to an autonomy of 10 hours with the Noise reduction activated. They therefore promise double the performance compared to that of the EAH-AZ80.
