Sony announces film adaptations of these two famous video games

That franchise fans Helldiverse And Horizon rejoice, they will both be the subject of films in preparation at Sony, as announced Asad Qizilbash, director of PlayStation Productions during a high-tech show in Las Vegas.

An adaptation of Helldivers 2

According to Qizilbash, Sony Productions and Sony Pictures are currently collaborating on an adaptation of the game Helldiverse 2. Developed by Arrowhead, the latter is a shooter set in the 22nd century as soldiers fight to defend humanity against various threats.

Released in February 2024, on PlayStation 5 and Windows, Helldiverse 2 sold 12 million copies in 12 weeks last year, becoming the fastest-selling PlayStation game in history and Sony's most popular Windows game.

Not much else is known about its film adaptation except that it is currently only in the development stage.

Aloy on the big screen

Also at the beginning of its development, Horizon Zero Dawn will also be adapted into a feature film. While there was a time when there was talk of transforming the Guerrilla Games game into a series for Netflix (a project abandoned in July 2024 by the streaming platform), now Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Studios have decided to make a film.

No further details have been communicated on the project but Qizilbash expressed his enthusiasm with the idea of ​​seeing “Aloy's story, set in a futuristic world filled with giant machines, brought to the big screen for the first time.”

The first part of the saga Horizonreleased in 2017, follows a young killer and machine tamer, Aloy, in a post-apocalyptic world invaded by robotic creatures, as she goes in search of her identity.
