Free ended 2024 in ushering in the end of 2G among its mobile customers or improving the TV channel bouquet for Freebox subscribers. To celebrate the start of the year, the operator has increased its 4G and 5G speeds.
The snooper Tiino-X83 in fact shared the good news on January 3, resulting from the latest Free Mobile pricing brochure. We thus discover that 4G+ passes at a speed of 850 Mbit/s in transmission and 100 Mbit/s in reception, compared to 260 Mbit/s and 50 Mbit/s previously.
On the 5G side, Xavier Niel's company stops talking about speeds 3 times higher in reception or 1.7 times higher in transmission compared to 4G.
Free now specifies that subscribers can benefit from a maximum of 1.75 Gbit/s download and 130 Mbit/s upload for areas covered in 3.5 GHz. For the 700 MHz bands, the spearhead of Free, you will have to make do with 850 Mbit/s and 80 Mbit/s.
All this promises much better connectivity for the best located and equipped people. This follows the speeds recently announced by Free for its 100% 5G box with wifi 7.
