CES 2025 – Narwal Flow: a new robot for ever cleaner floors, right down to the walls
Like most of its competitors, Roborock in the lead, Narwal also came to present its innovations at CES, and in particular the Flow which should be its flagship robot for the year to come. No arms to pick up the user's socks, nor detachable motor to create a broom. It is mainly banking on its new FlowWash washing system to gain adoption, with other small improvements for suction and navigation.
A continuously rinsed mop that slides along the walls
Gone are the rotating mops of previous Narwal robots. The Flow instead incorporates a mop wrapped around two rollers which will rotate it while tanks of clean and dirty water will allow it to rinse it to ensure that the part in contact with the floor is always clean. The system is not new. It is also found on the Eureka J20 Ultra and it is also very close to the roller of a SwitchBot S10, except that the two rollers make it possible to increase the surface in contact with the ground. To see if it will be effective at Narwal. The manufacturer also allows the robot to slide the mop sideways to wash along the walls with its EdgeReach technology.
More efficient vacuuming on carpets and more and more objects recognized
But Flow doesn't just promise to wash floors better. It can also vacuum them and this function benefits from another new feature: Deep Carpet Boost. This technology allows the robot to lower its brush onto the carpets, and especially the frame that surrounds it, to concentrate the suction and increase its efficiency.
We also note the absence of LiDAR for mapping on the top, which should allow the Flow to pass under furniture more easily, but Narwal does not indicate whether the robot is simply not equipped with one or is it has been integrated on the front, with the two cameras designed to identify no less than 200 objects which could hinder the progress of the robot. He should thus be able to avoid them and find his charging station, a station which, as a high-end model requires, should take care of the main maintenance tasks: empty the collector, fill and empty the water from the robot, add detergent and dry the mop… Narwal announces up to 120 days of tranquility.
