Free gives the Freebox Mini 4K a serious software update
As the saying goes, “it’s not the size that counts”. This applies to changelog unveiled by Free regarding the latest update of the Freebox Mini 4K Player box. Indeed, if it is quite short, the improvements found there are anything but minor. Let's see what this version 3.6.0 contains, which concretely improves this Freebox launched ten years ago and which has no longer been marketed since 2022.
Major improvements without the need to restart
As for the only bug fix first of all, the Freebox Mini 4 can finally recover the Ethernet connection following a network loss (FS#23221). A major problem that has persisted for many years, which has therefore finally been corrected. The improvements brought by the update are, however, more numerous.
First of all, Free takes the opportunity to update the main Google applications present in the box. Good news, both to take advantage of the latest features of the firm's services and to avoid bugs and security vulnerabilities.
Better performance for an older case
Good news for performance too, since the Freebox Mini 4K Player box can, since this patch, automatically deactivate unused applications. Enough to save system resources without special handling. Finally, the developers indicate that they have made “optimizations in the event of memory contention”. Clearly, the case should be more fluid when using several applications.
To benefit from this 3.6.0 update, no need to restart the box. It will automatically arrive on your Freebox Mini 4K in the coming days, if this is not already the case.
