After the R5 And R4Renault is preparing the return of its Twingo, which disappeared just a few months ago. However, the next Twingo E-Tech, only electric, will echo the very first generation of the model unveiled in 1992, as Renault announced with a prototype in 2023. This showcar, promised to be very close to the series, now gains an interior, allowing you to get an idea of the interior of the final model.

Thus, at the Brussels motor show, Renault unveils a new version of its prototype. In addition to some exterior touch-ups as it approaches mass production, the Twingo E-Tech electric finally reveals its interior.

An original interior, but far from the original

Inside, the homage to the first Twingo is much less obvious, at least for the dashboard. Although it is different from those of the R5 and R4, it has little to do with that of the original Twingo which, we recall, only had a very small “digital” instrumentation in the center of the its dashboard. Only the indicator lights were placed behind the steering wheel. Here, Renault has opted for a now more classic layout, with a 10.1-inch central screen and a 7-inch instrument cluster.

Fortunately, Renault still took over some good ideas from the first Twingo, which the third generation of the model had made a clean sweep of. Thus, the sliding rear seat makes its comeback, with independently folding backrests. As a reminder, the next Twingo E-Tech will be a five-door, as the Twingo 3 already was, still with four seats on board.

Renault has allowed itself some original features, such as a magnetic area behind the front headrest, allowing the rear passenger to attach their phone in front of them, an elastic strap as a pouch and a seat back adjustment wheel like skateboard wheel.

The prototype is dressed in colorful patterned upholstery, as the first Twingo had on many occasions. The floor of the car is made of tinted cork. A panoramic roof brings light to the cabin of the prototype, otherwise much darker than that of the first Twingos, but its availability in series remains to be confirmed. If the final model should be as close as possible to this prototype, certain details could however have to evolve between now and the production of this new Twingo in 2026.

The fourth generation Twingo will be based on the AmpR Small platform of the R5 and R4 and will be marketed from a price of less than €20,000 excluding bonuses, despite its production in Europe, promises Renault. It will therefore be around €5,000 more accessible than the entry-level Renault 5.
