AI would transform the job market by 2030

The WEF study is based on data from 1,000 companies that employ 14 million people around the world. It shows that half plan to reorient their business in response to AI. Two thirds plan to recruit people specialized in this technology. And 40% anticipate a reduction in workforce where AI can automate tasks.

The most sought-after profiles by 2030 are concentrated around three areas: AI and big data, networks and cybersecurity, and technological culture. AI is therefore the main driver of job creation according to the report, which specifies that 86% of companies plan to transform their activities through AI over the next decade.

Specific professions are experiencing a marked decline: postal service employees, executive secretaries and payroll managers. For the first time, graphic designers and legal secretaries join this list. The WEF justifies this inclusion by the growing capabilities of generative AI in creative and administrative domains.

However, the FEM is not talking about a replacement but about increased human-machine collaboration. Between 2025 and 2030, 77% of companies surveyed will launch programs to train their employees to use this technology. And 70% plan to recruit specialists to design AI tools. Finally, 62% will look for employees already able to use this technology.

OpenAI calls for universal income

OpenAI, to whom we owe ChatGPT, believed to have been used in Las Vegas Cybertruck attackestimated in 2023 that AI could replace the “median worker”. Sam Altman aims to develop general-purpose AI (AGI) but also a “superintelligence” which exceeds human intellectual capacities.

Faced with this situation, Sam Altman suggests the creation of a universal basic income to provide a minimum income to each citizen. The head of OpenAI is financing one of the most important experiments in this regard.
