CES 2025 – The 7 innovations and trends to remember from the world’s largest tech show
End clap for CES in Las Vegas, Nevada! This very atypical week full of announcements is coming to an end and the time has come to take stock.
1/ Transparent screens
CES was an opportunity for manufacturers to show off their talents in screen innovation, particularly on transparent models. As at every international trade fair for several years, you might say, but 2025 marks the arrival of more concrete products, now on sale.
This is the case of LG Signature Oled T, extraordinary model presented at CES and sold for several weeks, at the crazy price of €30,000 it is true. LG also unveiled during this 2025 edition a refrigerator equipped with a similar 28-inch screen. A transparent concept soberly called Refrigerator Signature, which could see the light of day in the not-so-distant future.
Samsung also showed its traditional Micro-Led screenssome of which are transparent, and Hisense has done the same for the first time. We can imagine countless applications, particularly on the professional side, but we will undoubtedly have to wait a few more years for Micro-Led to become affordable and can be considered by potential buyers. As a reminder, this technology (non-transparent) is sold for around €800-1000 per inch, an amount that is still clearly prohibitive.
2/ The Mini-Led
Still on the TV side, we can mention the developments in Mini-Led technology carried by TCL, Hisense and Samsung, which is improving more and more. We are seeing new HVA panels arriving at TCL which should reduce the blooming and improve contrasts, while the RGB Mini-Led (panel made up of colored LEDs rather than white) should significantly increase the coverage of TV color spaces, even surpassing OLED in this area. TCL and Samsung presented prototypes of panels, but Hisense is already planning to market it on its 116-inch UX116.
3/ Ultra-short throw video projectors
The large show in the “city of sin” also saw the arrival of numerous compact ultra-short throw video projectors. This type of projector is generally quite bulky, but several manufacturers have announced models with reduced dimensions. This is the case of Samsung which unveiled a The Premiere 5, JMGO and its O2S, Yaber or Hisense which presented a prototype with an impressive technical sheet for its size, similar to the current PX3-Pro. This could be released in 2026.
4/ Connected glasses
Augmented reality glasses abound in the aisles of the show. The craze for Ray-Ban Meta undoubtedly has something to do with it. We were expecting Sony and Samsung in this segment, but we failed. However, many brands unknown to the general public have presented their vision of connected glasses with photo sensor, microphone, speakers and artificial intelligence. The functionalities are often identical and should allow these glasses to come as close as possible to the services of a smartphone.
5/ The ever more versatile home
This is a trend that we have been observing in homes for several years and which was confirmed at CES 2025. Home automation devices are becoming more and more versatile. We saw the robot vacuums become floor scrubbers and now convert to stick vacuums. Their stations do more and more things, they can even purify the air or act as dehumidifiers. We have seen toothbrushes providing jets of water! At LG, we came across a coffee table integrating a speaker and an induction charger, or even a video projector which can be converted into an ambient light. These dual-use devices are wise, because they avoid the multiplication of equipment at home. A trend towards versatility that has fascinated us in many ways and that we will follow closely.
6/ Spatial audio
Spatial audio technologies today are capable of transforming any audio signal into a 3D experience. They can notably be found in headsets and earphones, as well as in soundbars in order to offer more immersion to music or soundtracks.
Spatial audio is believed to have stood out at this CES as two tech giants announced a major partnership in this area. Indeed, Samsung and Google have launched Eclipsa Audio, a 3D virtualization system accompanying the 2025 model year of Samsung soundbars, with the aim of competing with Dolby Atmos.
The French start-up Octavio has unveiled Harmony, a system made up of a transmitter and several receivers, all of which makes it possible to configure a wireless spatial sound system with several speakers already in the user's possession.
Music Unit and Leson presented snippets of their DeepStereo technology. Intended for both consumers and professionals, it also allows spatial audio to be delivered to any source.
