Tesla slows production of Cybertruck

The December 2024 internal memo announced shift changes for January 2025 with a survey to ask employees about their assignment preferences. According to Business Insiderthe modifications are effective: part of the personnel who produce the Cybertruck in the Austin factory are reassigned to the assembly line of the Model Y which recently unveiled its Juniper version for the Chinese market.

In the internal memo, Tesla half-heartedly expressed the difficulties in sales of the Cybertruck by talking about a “reevaluation of schedules to meet business needs” and “changes in the Model Y and Cyber programs”. Faced with the lack of volunteers to be reassigned, an employee tells us that “some were forced to change positions”.

Tesla is going all out in order to stabilize sales of the Cybertruck. Eligibility for the $7,500 tax credit in 2025 could help. The car manufacturer has also reduced its leasing offers. Since December, monthly payments have been lowered to $899 for the dual-motor version and $999 for the tri-motor Cyberbeast.

The manufacturer even offers free lifetime charging on Superchargers, with certain limitations, to sell Cybertrucks. “Foundation Series” in stock.

If the Cybertruck is not popular, it is in particular because of its design which struggles to convince pickup drivers, even those interested in electric vehicles. Its price positioning limits it to a ceremonial vehicle. However, this model has solid arguments but nothing to do: it does not flow.
