Paranormal Telecaster Offset SJ Limited Edition Guitar Anthracite Gray (fender.com)
€287.99
Fender is having its sales and this concerns in particular this Paranormal Telecaster Offset SJ Charcoal Gray (yes, yes) in limited edition from Squier.
Edit: loading the right photos, I just had to download them (normal for a Tele).
A mix of genres at a reasonable price
I let myself be tempted (a bit on a whim, I know, you shouldn't) and receiving the guitar today convinced me to make a deal.
Half Telecaster (bridge side) half Jazz Master (body shape and neck pickup), it allows you to combine the sounds of these 2 Fender classics thanks to the 3-position Telecaster selector.
That would already be pretty but that's not all. Thanks to push/pull controls, position 2 allows you to choose even more with the microphones in series or parallel (on the volume control) or in phase or out of phase (on the tone control).
And the effect on the sounds is quite convincing. Judge for yourself (he starts with the Troublemaker but ends up demoing the different settings at 5:30):

It's my first Squier but I found the finishes impeccable (especially for this budget) and it is very comfortable (neither too heavy nor too light).
Afterwards it's “Made in Indonesia” and not “Made in China” for these series (but maybe that has nothing to do with it).
I'm just going to learn to fight with the adjustments of the 3 saddles for intonation. That's part of the Telecaster charm.
Features:
- Jazzmaster format poplar body, glossy anthracite gray
- 3-ply mint green pickguard (I had doubts but frankly it goes very well)
- Bolt-on Slim C maple neck
- Laurel fingerboard, 21 narrow tall frets, rectangular pearloid inlays, white binding
- Scale 25.5″ (648 mm)
- Radius 9.5″ (241 mm)
- Bone nut 1.650” (42 mm)
- Matching painted headstock (shiny anthracite gray)
- 15:1 vintage style tuners (slotted and not drilled)
- 3-saddle chrome bridge
- 3 position switch
- Volume control (push/pull see above)
- Tone control (push/pull see above)
- S/J Alnico “Fender designed” pickups
- 9/42 strings (to be changed on mine but that will be all, maybe brass saddles one day)
- Made in Indonesia (and delivered in well-protected cardboard, upside down)
Price comparison:
I only found it on other sites in the 2 other finishes (Ice Blue, the one in the initial photos, and Olympic White), everywhere at 422 euros.
So this is the price that I used as a reference for the deal.
But you should know that this color is only available on the Fender website where it is normally sold at 479.99 euros, which allows them to display a -25% (and in absolute terms they have no not wrong if you absolutely want this color which I like even more “in real life”).
