With its pink shell and light silver/white interior, this thin and light compact laptop certified to the American military resistance standard MIL-STD-810G has an original appearance.
This Ultrabook integrates good wired connectivity with its USB-C port, its useful HDMI video output to easily connect it to a TV or a monitor for example, its audio port as well as its 3 USBs including 2 USB 3.0 (USB 2.0 compatible) providing transfers up to 5 times faster than USB 2.0 if USB 3.0 devices are plugged into it.
It's a shame, however, that the Wi-Fi 5 ac and Bluetooth 5.1 wireless connectivity is old and less efficient than the more recent Wi-Fi 6 ax and Bluetooth 5.2/5.3 modules.
A priori the chiclet keyboard does not have a backlighting solution. If this is confirmed, it is a disappointment given the positioning of this laptop.
On the other hand, those who regularly enter numbers will be delighted to be able to activate the NumPad functionality.
Once the NumberPad is active, a tactile numeric keypad appears on the touchpad.
Remember in this regard that due to its compact format of less than 15 inches, this laptop PC does not have the space necessary to accommodate a physical numeric keypad.
Suitable for videos due to its 16:9 format, the Full HD screen has an anti-reflective treatment ensuring better visibility than a shiny panel in a bright environment (e.g. outdoors).
On the other hand, the TN viewing angles are average, less interesting than those provided by IPS technology.
Performance, autonomy of the Asus Vivobook 14 S1404VA-NK664W
The Asus Vivobook 14 S1404VA-NK664W is an elegant compact laptop PC intended for everyday use offering significant storage capacity.
It benefits from a 1000 GB SSD – twice more than the average, high capacity for installing and storing quantities of applications and files.
Both shock-resistant, silent and energy-efficient, the SSD offers high speed which significantly improves responsiveness and fluidity on a daily basis.
So thanks to the SSD it is quick to start/stop, launch software or even carry out processing.
Small multimedia processing operations using RAM and multi-core can in fact be carried out under this Ultrabook, such as light photo editing or video conversions.
Because it is built around 16 GB of RAM and a low-consumption Intel Core i5-1335U Raptor Lake processor with 10 hybrid cores in which the Iris Xe graphics module takes place.
In practice, this laptop delivers very good performance in everyday use, such as surfing the Internet and office work, watching photos and videos or playing light games.
As for autonomy, it is around 6 hours of battery operation in light use for this Ultrabook which is easy to transport because it is compact, thin and light.
