Like other Chinese consumer electronics brands, Honor has been developing a range of headphones for several years true wireless to accompany your smartphones. This new model called Honor Earbuds Open has an open architecture, avoiding any form of auditory intrusion and allowing the user to stay alert with their environment. A great first for Honor, this trendy format complements the Earbuds X6 semi-open headphones and the semi-in-ear headphones Earbuds 3 Pro.

Bass worthy of the name thanks to a virtualization algorithm

If combining open design and sound quality is a challenge that few headphones have previously been able to meet, according to Honor, the Open Earbuds would be capable of doing so thanks to AI. Indeed, their 16 mm toroidal transducers would be accompanied by a virtual bass algorithm offering “crystal clear on all frequencies“, even in noisy environments. The headphones would also include a Cinema Stereo Surround mode supposed to offer more immersion.

Emphasis would also have been placed on noise reduction, thanks to a new system adapted to open headphones promising elimination of nuisances of up to 24 dB and a drastic reduction of ambient noise during telephone calls.

Language translation by AI and weak autonomy

Artificial intelligence would also have been used to translate languages when the Open Earbuds are associated with a smartphone Honor Magic7 Pro. “Shared mode” allows us to broadcast our translated words in one of the shared headsets to an interlocutor and “exclusive mode” allows us to transcribe the translation of our speech via the smartphone's speakers. The “simultaneous interpretation” mode, for its part, allows the user to receive a real-time translation in their Earbuds Open headphones. In terms of functionality, we also note compatibility with Google Assistant, a geolocation system and a touch control interface.

Honor also emphasizes ergonomics, announcing excellent wearing comfort favored by a “soft covering” and a shape memory alloy ensuring good support in all circumstances. The brand also mentions use during sporting activities, despite a simple IP54 certification offering no protection against perspiration. However, the Open Earbuds would not shine thanks to to their rechargeable battery, whose autonomy is announced at only 6 hours with noise reduction deactivated.
