LG: a transparent Oled screen on a refrigerator, a gem from CES 2025

Transparent screens abound at CES and during this 2025 edition, we were also able to see them on the facades of refrigerators. It was at LG that this concept was exhibited, behind a security rope preventing the media and the general public from handling this technological monster.

The LG Signature therefore comes in the form of a multi-door refrigerator which integrates a transparent 28-inch Oled panel, the same which integrates the LG Oled T TV and the least we can say is that the demo is sublime. The screen attracts the customer, flatters the retina and allows, on this refrigerator, to control the settings of the device (define the temperature in the different spaces, start the formation of ice cubes (according to three different shapes and calibers, manage the zones convertibles, etc.). The demonstrations carried out on the stand highlight the refrigerator's ability to display wallpapers to personalize (or enhance) the kitchen, a functionality which seemed very artificial to us but which managed to have its effect. . Without us having been able to see it, we guess that this transparent screen will also be able to provide access to emails, the calendar, the To do, the shopping list or even the user's playlists, as offered in particular by the Samsung Family Hub.
Cutting-edge technologies
Inside this exceptional refrigerator, LG has cutting-edge features including No Frost cold, also called ventilated cold, which has the advantage of ensuring the maintenance of a constant and uniform temperature while avoiding the formation frost or ice in the cavity. This therefore reduces maintenance and electricity consumption.
At the top of the device, a camera is installed allowing you to film the inside of your refrigerator and record the entry and exit of food to optimize the shopping list. To go even further, the refrigerator will also be able to make recipe recommendations (from the transparent screen) based on the foods remaining in the refrigerator.
The refrigerator doors are automatic. They open and close with a simple press on the screen. Another gimmicky feature that we could do without, but the demonstration is fascinating.
On the freezer side, two large drawers are provided with, positioning requires, a convertible zone to transform the refrigeration space into freezing or vice versa, depending on the user's needs. A vegetable drawer and a meat drawer are also included.
The LG Oled Transparent refrigerator is only a prototype and this is the reason why no information on the capacity of the device (in volume), its energy class, its availability or its price has been provided. press release.
