Clichés and hypothetical characteristics of new in-ear headphones from Sony are in the wild. While waiting for their formalization by the brand, the conditional is as always appropriate. Still, these Sony WH-C710Ns seem to have some interesting features.
Low price but solid features?
Obviously designed to replace WF-C700N of 2023, like the little ones WF-C510 did it for WF-C500 in 2024, these would be the new mid-range headphones in Sony's catalog. However, the WH-C710N, codenamed YY2986, would use the same battery as the high-end WF-1000XM5. Enough to possibly last 24 hours with the case, or 26% better than with the current generation.
In addition, beyond offering four colors (black, white, pink and a new translucent blue), these new headphones could adopt tactile gestures instead of physical controls. A proximity sensor also seems to be on board.
SBC and AAC codecs should be supported, but the question remains for LC3 or LDAC. A change from one to two microphones to improve the ANC could also be a good thing, but impossible to know at the moment.
A new translucent version
If the leaks prove to be true, we would be facing a serious leap forward for this range, provided of course that Sony does not increase the bill too much compared to the WF-C700N currently offered at €89. For the moment, no marketing date is known for the Sony WH-C710N.
