iPhone 17 Air: the ultra-thin model could also make concessions on the camera
The highly anticipated iPhone 17 Air is revealed a little more each week, in particular thanks to various leaks and rumors which allow us to discover more about the slim model planned by Apple for 2025. We therefore know that it should be of the thinnest model ever offered by Apple so far. Moreover, just like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slimthis finesse should have a direct impact on the battery: the latter should be quite disappointing compared to current market standards in the field (between 3000 mAh and 4000mAh). But this shouldn't be the only concession Apple makes for its new model.
Thinner but less durable and less powerful on the photo side?
So, in a new reportthe Wall Street Journal addresses the potential pricing strategy borrowed by Apple for this iPhone 17 Air: “Starting next year, Apple plans to launch an iPhone thinner than the current profile by about 8 millimeters, according to people familiar with the company's plans. This model will be designed to be less expensive than the Pro models, with a simplified camera system to reduce costs” we can read in the article in the famous publication. In other words, the camera part would be relatively put aside in favor of a more advantageous price, in order to reach a wider audience.
Be careful however, this report comes into direct contradiction with another leak, older (last May), from The Information : at the time, the young site indicated that “The thinner iPhone could launch at the same time as the iPhone 17, expected in September 2025, according to three people with direct knowledge of the project and two others familiar with the plans. It could be priced higher than the iPhone Pro Max, currently Apple's most expensive model, which has a starting price of $1,200“, we could then read. Now it remains to determine who is right: we should know more in the coming months.
