WinPlay, Xiaomi's weapon to seduce fans of PC games
It's not always easy to stand out in the world of touchscreen tablets, so uses are often limited to watching videos, using web browsers or productivity tools. Xiaomi is not short of ideas to breathe new life into its products, including the recent Pad 6S Pro 12.4. The Chinese brand, number 3 on the telephony market in the world and in France, hopes to find a way to attract players and is providing initial details detailing the progress of its work.
On the social network WeiboXiaomi indicates that it is working on a service called WinPlay. This takes the form of Windows environment virtualization, in connection with the latest beta of Hyper OS 2. The manufacturer mentions a loss of GPU (graphics) performance limited to 2.9%, i.e. -say almost imperceptible, when executing said games. Zhang Guoquanat Xiaomi, assures that Weibo that Tomb Raider 9 thus runs at 45 fps, and results in a consumption of 8.3 W. For gamersthe promise is exciting: we see the possibility of accessing the rich catalogs of Steam or GOG, and therefore a wide range of games. Also good news is that the system supports both Xbox controllers and keyboards and mice.
As is often the case, there is a but. WinPlay is therefore only compatible with the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4and the beta tester recruitment campaign just launched by the brand is reserved for China. It therefore remains to be seen whether porting to other products, and especially whether international deployment, is to be expected.
