If we still needed proof that the artificial intelligences generative of video have already reached an impressive level, László Gaál was responsible for bringing it to us. The content creator had access to the Google Deepmind Veo 2 model and used it to design an advertisement of one minute followed by two minutes behind the scenes.

Only three weeks of work

In this video that you can discover above, only the scene where the man explains the shooting is real. The rest, including backstage sequences, is generated by artificial intelligence. The creation process has spread over three weeks: twelve days to generate advertising, four days behind the scenes, and a few additional days of editing. The soundtrack combines music from an online library and a narration recorded by a worker recruited on Fiverr. Unsurprisingly, the main difficulty encountered by Gaál lies in the consistency of scenes and characters. VEO 2 only works with textual instructions, without the possibility of using reference images or videos. He nevertheless affirms that the short sequences presented in advertising result from an artistic choice rather than a technical limitation.

The film industry already in danger?

Logically, this video does not fail to raise many questions about the future of the film industry. In less than two years, technology has progressed spectacularly, going from simple experimental clips to professional appearance productions. The prospect of generating whole films from simple textual descriptions is becoming more and more tangible. It even seems inevitable. As with image generation tools, there are a few technical brakes, at the forefront of which the difficulty of creating coherent photo / videos, with monitoring of subjects and sets.

An inevitable evolution

But the speed at which these technologies progress hardly leaves any doubt that this consistency will arrive sooner or later. And even if it is not yet there, the technical demonstration of the day reminds us that the current possibilities of artificial intelligence are already impressive. The ease with which only one person can now create quality content will necessarily turn upset the whole ecosystem of audiovisual production. This does not sign that not everyone will become James Cameron overnight. It will always take an in -depth knowledge of the subject to generate a beautiful video. But where it was necessary before millions of euros and a complete shooting team, a simple subscription could be enough in the future.
