The unexciting weeks follow one another and are similar at the American box office. Waiting Captain America: Brave New World on February 14, which should bring the public back to theaters, the more modest releases are doing well. This is the case of the latest film with Mark Wahlberg, which snatches first place in the ranking.
Lionsgate continues
With 12 million dollars earned for its first weekend of operation, High risk flight therefore comes out on top and offers the studio Lionsgate Films (Saw, John Wick, Twilight) his second crown of 2025 after Criminal Squad: Pantera earlier in January. High risk flight (Flight Risk in VO) will need to maintain this dynamic if it wants to repay its modest budget of 25 million dollars. But it's off to a bad start if we are to believe the catastrophic critical and public feedback.
Mel Gibson's latest production, High risk flight does less well than the filmmaker's previous film, You will not kill (2016), which earned 15.1 million for its launch. It's also not a flamboyant start for Mark Wahlberg, who hasn't really attracted crowds since Very Bad Dads 2 in 2017.

In this desert of releases, the December films continue their career ends smoothly. This is the case of Mufasa who still recorded 8.7 million dollars in the sixth week. At this rate, Disney's latest live action will slowly end its run around $650 million worldwide, and will have ended up being a long-term success for the studio.
One of Them Daysthe comedy carried by the Keke Palmer / SZA duo recorded 8 million in its second weekend, down only 32%. A very good retention helped by good word of mouth, and which allows the film to already reach 25 million on American soil. Enough to cover its mini-budget of 14 million dollars.

Finally, Sonic 3 And Moana 2 recover the (nice) crumbs of this top 5, which allows the blue hedgehog to seal its success and reach 446 million dollars worldwide, and the Disney heroine to consolidate her position beyond the prestigious billion mark.
As said at the opening, the big awakening of the American box office will take place on the weekend of February 14 to 16, with the release of Captain America: Brave New World. According to analyst projections, the new MCU opus should achieve a launch of around $95 million in three days, a (good) start similar to Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014.
