From January 21, 2025, young people under 26 can obtain “Éden Perlés” condoms free of charge in pharmacies. An initiative to facilitate access to contraception and STI prevention.

From January 21, 2025, French pharmacists are offering young people under the age of 26 the opportunity to collect a box of the brand new “Éden Perlés” range of male condoms free of charge. This system aims to promote access to contraception and improve the prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among young people.

One more step towards prevention This initiative, supported by Health Insurance, allows young people to access a box of twelve textured condoms free of charge and without a prescription. “Éden Perlés” condoms, renowned for their comfort and safety, are made of latex, lubricated and have a pearly texture which improves sensations.

All you need to do is present your Vitale card or a certificate of rights at the pharmacy to benefit from this offer. The approach is simple and discreet, adapted to the needs and concerns of young people.

Multiple options for effective protection “Éden Perlés” condoms join other products already 100% covered by Health Insurance since January 2023. Among these, we find several ranges of condoms, ranging from classic to flavored through XL sizes. The diversity of options offered allows everyone to choose according to their personal preferences and needs.

In addition to the “Éden Perlés”, young people under 26 can choose from the brands “Be Loved”, “Manix Classic”, “Sortez couvertures!” » and many others, all fully refunded. For women, options include “Be Loved free”, “Ormelle” and “So sexy & Smile” with varying packaging to suit different life moments and personal preferences.

Increased accessibility for better controlled sexual health By promoting the use of free condoms in pharmacies, Health Insurance is paving the way for better management of sexual health among young people. This initiative contributes to increased awareness of the risks of unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections such as HIV, hepatitis B and syphilis.

The simplified process for obtaining condoms not only allows for increased accessibility, but also encourages discussions around contraception, protection, and consent. Free access is intended to be a lever to remove the financial and educational barriers often encountered by young people.

What about those over 26? For people aged 26 and over, reimbursement for condoms is partial, at 60%, requiring a medical prescription. These provisions nevertheless encourage the safe and thoughtful use of contraceptives among the entire adult population.

Since January 2025, the prices of the “Éden Perlés” range have been adjusted, with the price being capped at 2.45 euros including tax for a pharmacy box. This makes it possible to maintain accessibility in terms of cost for older people while reaffirming the importance of protection in all age groups.

Prevention and awareness: the key to improved public health The free distribution of condoms contributes to improving public health by raising awareness from a very young age. By providing practical and accessible solutions, health authorities aim to normalize the use of contraceptives and integrate prevention into the daily lives of young adults.

It is essential that every young person becomes aware of the importance of protecting themselves during intimate relationships. Open discussions and engaging initiatives like this play a crucial role in ongoing sexual health and STI prevention education. Free condoms are just one aspect of a broader health strategy aimed at empowering and protecting young people.
