Nintendo Switch 2: Xbox games should arrive on the new hybrid console
With The announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2the alliances are emerging. Microsoft, through Phil Spencer's voice, said support for this new hybrid console. Behind the compliments is looming an ambitious strategy: to enrich the Nintendo ecosystem with the flagship licenses of Xbox.
Nintendo and Xbox, a new tandem for the Switch 2
The support displayed by Xbox goes beyond words. A partnership is already in place to bring the franchise back Call of Duty On Nintendo consoles. This symbolic return marks a renewal in the relations between the two firms. Corridor noises also suggest that Diablo IV could be part of the games available on the Switch 2, just like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Or Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
The arrival of these emblematic licenses on the hybrid console would upset the established balance. The Switch, so far perceived as a family and accessible machine, could now claim to seduce a wider audience. Technically more ambitious titles would strengthen its catalog, by exploiting the improved capacities of this new model.
Spencer, by congratulating Nintendo, also highlighted their ability to innovate. He believes that the Switch 2 will become an essential success, just like its elder. However, behind these compliments hides a strategic ambition: that of positioning Xbox as an essential partner, even on land where he is not the leader and, ultimately to develop your turnover by having access to the incredible community of Nintendo players.
Because it should not be forgotten that since their launch in November 2020, X/S Xbox Series have passed at around 31.2 million units, a figure much lower than the initial expectations. In comparison, the Nintendo Switch, launched in March 2017, reached 146.04 million units sold around the world on September 30, 2024.
