Windows wants to make file sharing even simpler
A new function to share files faster
Microsoft seems to test a new feature called “Drag Tray” in the latest Insider Preview version of Windows 11 (Build 22635,4805). This feature was discovered for the first time by user X (formerly Twitter) Phantomofearth, who was able to share a video revealing the operation of the new feature, visible below:
Microsoft is experimenting with a new file sharing ui in windows 11: the “drag tray”. When Dragging A File, The Tray Shows Up at the Top of the Screen with a drag here to share hint and lists a few apps. Has a more options button to open the share sheet. Thus, the video reveals that users will be able to click on a file and drag it up of the screen. Once the file is close to the top, a panel (or “tray”) will open, displaying different sharing options available. You can then fly over one of these options, such as Phone Link, to share the file. This function recalls sharing on Android, where a menu with different sharing options is directly accessible once you select a file. Now stay to determine when the function will be available for a public version of Windows.
