Stellantis believed well cut the grass under the foot of Dacia by important in France the Chinese brand Leapmotor and its electric mini-city target T03. The group hoped indeed to offer it to us from € 14,900 thanks to the ecological bonus, which the Dacia Spring no longer benefits – produced in China, since this state aid has excluded the majority of electric cars assembled outside Europe.

And for good reason, the T03 sold in Europe by Stellantis are assembled in Poland. However, only the final assembly is carried out there, according to a principle of semi Knocked Down (SKD), where the main components arrive from China and have only to be assembled. This trick was hardly appreciated by the government, which was quick to react.

Thus, a decree Released in the Official Journal on January 24, 2025 came to seal the fate of the T03, which we now know that it will not be entitled to the ecological bonus. Indeed, this decree aims to review the calculation of the environmental score to be achieved so that a car is eligible for the bonus, no longer taking into account its “Assembly site”but his “Manufacturing site”.

“The project defines this site as the one in which the stamped and sheet metalie stages are carried out for the realization of the box in white of the version of the vehicle, the painting of the box then the assembly of the electric motor and the battery on said cash register “is it explained. “In the event that these stages are carried out in several places, the manufacturing site selected is the one in which the most determining step is carried out, that is to say the box in white.”

In fact, the hope of eligibility for the ecological bonus died for the T03, of which only the final assembly is carried out in Europe. The fault in which Stellantis rushed was quickly closed and the mentions of the ecological bonus in the communication of Leapmotor around the T03 were removed.

The Dacia Spring is again the cheapest electric car on the market

If Leapmotor has a compensated time the absence of an ecological bonus by a Subject of 4000 €lowering the price of the T03 to € 14,900, the brand could not seem to hold this effort over time, as we feared. From now on, the T03 is displayed at a stored rate of € 17,900, which remains quite attractive given the level of unexpected equipment it offers, but this is no longer enough to make it the cheapest electric car walk.

Indeed, at the same time, Dacia has reintroduced entry -level versions of its Spring, now displayed from € 16,900. The cards are therefore rebatted between the two rivals.
