Here is the Hyundai Ioniq 9, an electric juggernaut with more than 600 km of autonomy
Hyundai widens its range of electric cars from below, but also from the top. On the sidelines of the little tests Set upwe were able to discover the Ioniq 9, the new electric flagship of the manufacturer.
A model cut for large spaces
The Ioniq 9 is a very imposing SUV, since measuring 5.06 m long, 1.98 m wide and 1.79 m high. It is even larger than the thermal model Santa feand even that the palisade sold in particular in North America, but not in France, because far too immense. However, this Ioniq 9 will be well marketed with us and will act as the only seven -seater option among the electric cars in Hyundai.
However, his style is less cubic than that of a santa fe or a palisade, with a much more fleeting roof line. Optional cameras mirrors and flush handles also make it possible to limit the CX to 0.259, one value among the best in the category.
Note that the model which was presented to us does not quite correct the European configuration of the Ioniq 9, whose tailgate will for example be painted the color of the body.
Inside, the dashboard resumes a layout similar to other models in the range. Two 12 -inch screens are placed horizontally, while many physical commands persist so as not to compromise ergonomics. Hyundai promises a vocal assistant based on artificial intelligence “similar to a virtual domestic assistant”, without more detail. Among the other functions of this ioniq 9, we note the presence of USB-C of 100 W in three rows, a domestic v2L socket in the trunk, or even a UV-C sterilization system, a technology Quite popular in South Korea. Like the vocal assistant by AI, it may not be available in all markets.
Three seats configurations will be offered: seven places with a bench in rank 2, or six places with the choice of “relaxation” seats or rotary seats, exactly as aboard the KIA EV9the technical cousin of this Hyundai Ioniq 9. Rotating seats can be turned at 180 ° and it is therefore possible to travel back to the road. It will certainly amuse the children, but the older ones will clearly miss the leg space. When stopped, however, it is possible to advance the front seats as much as possible and thus enjoy a real small living room on the back.
In classic configuration, the space is obviously very generous for all passengers, as we are entitled to wait for such a size. The central console is sliding and allows passengers in Rang 2 to access several storage, including a refrigerated, and to configure tri-zone automatic air conditioning.
Even with all the files in place, the Ioniq 9 trunk is far from being ridiculous. We thus take advantage of a volume of 620 l, a space worthy of certain five -seater models. Folding the row 3 files to extend this volume to 1323 L, while a front trunk (fruit) Added to it, from 88 L in propulsion version or 52 L for 4×4 models.
A big autonomy and especially reduced charge times
The Ioniq 9 is distinguished from its cousin Kia EV9 with an even stronger battery. Lithium-ion chemistry NMC, it announces 110.3 kWh of useful capacity. Enough to travel up to 620 km according to the mixed WLTP cycle for the Propulsion model (awaiting final approval). It will be necessary to count on a hundred kilometers less for the 4×4 models with two engines.
Taking advantage of the dedicated E-GMP platform, the ioniq 9 accepts loads at 400 or 800 V. Hyundai promises a time of 10 to 80 % of load of only 24 min, with a maximum load power of 350 kW, which is excellent.
On the performance side, with this big battery, which is currently the only formalized, the 0 to 100 km/h is announced in 9.4 s for the two -wheel drive version, 6.7 s with the 4×4 and 5 model, 2 s with the performance version, also equipped with two electric motors.
The Hyundai Ioniq 9 will be launched in South Korea and the United States in the first half of 2025, but it will be necessary to wait a little further its marketing in Europe.
