Sonos: The price of the new box streaming will make your wallet scream
We have known it for several months: Sonos, after a Complicated 2024will abandon the audio to get into the video market with a streaming box that would compete with Apple TV, Google, Amazon and Company boxes. However to buy it, you will have to pay the price.
An expensive new streaming box
In 2025, Sonos will release a streaming box that could cost, according to our colleagues from The Vergebetween 200 and 400 dollars, between 190 and 390 euros, a rather astronomical price for a product of this type. By way of comparison, an Apple TV 4K box costs 169 euros, while theAmazon Fire TV Cube is 159.99 euros.
Especially since this device has, a priori, nothing very original. This would be a black box of square shape, barely thicker than a pack of playing cards. The idea is that it allows, like the other boxes of this kind, to bring together several streaming services (Netflix,, Disney+,, Video premium…) Under one and the same interface.
Still according to The Vergethe Sonos box, known as the “Pinewood” code name, would offer a “sublime” interface with a universal search engine bringing together all the catalogs of SVOD platforms Proposed, and can be checked vocally as well as with a remote control including shortcuts to the various streaming services.
In short, functions already present in competition and which imply that Sonos find a way of doing well. The sources close to the project then speak of a HDMI switch function and the fact that the case should have several HDMI ports allowing to connect game consoles and other Blu-ray players to the device.
And of course, it would also be a question of being able to connect (wireless) the box streaming to sound bars but also to Sonos speakers In order to offer an optimal audio and video experience to users. Pinewood will also include Wi-Fi 7 support for the most robust connection possible.
No release date is currently known, and the product is still only the subject of beta tests, then it may be that certain functions are evolving or disappearing by its sale.
However Sonos will have to put the double bites to allow its box to stand out in an already saturated market, especially since they will have to justify from consumers to ask for such a price for a device that is ultimately close to the competition.
