We thought it was dead and buried by Nvidia (which has not yet to offer a new version since 2019), but the NVIDIA Shield TV multimedia box has just had a junk. The manufacturer has just pushed update 9.2 of the operating system based on Android TV turning its solution.
The last Rustine dated from October 2024, when the previous one dates back to July 2023. The first version of the Shield dating from 2015, Nvidia has just breathed the candle for the ten years of support for its machine.
Some new features and lots of fixes for the Nvidia Shield TV
However, the main novelty of this 9.2 update only concerns the Nvidia Shield TV Pro. This is now compatible with Auro3D audio technology, a competitor of Dolby Atmos and DTS: x. It will therefore be necessary to have a compatible decoder to be able to take advantage of this high resolution spatial sound via HDMI and the Shield.
In terms of improvements and new features, here is the full list:
- Addition of support for the audio content resolution functionality when using a USB DAC
- Addition of the possibility of removing the HDMI 1.4 flag via factory resetting
- Improvement of the correspondence of the image frequency (beta)
- Integration of parental control in French
- Optimization of safety for reading 4K content protected by DRM

If a new bug is there, namely the withdrawal of the Shield TV from Google Home integration after update 9.2 (the instructions to resolve this are available on this page), here is finally the long list of bug corrections:
- Raised video reading after the operations advance/fast return
- Remote control which no longer responds for 60 seconds after the standby release
- Shield that wakes up from the lock screen without pressing a button
- Problem with the transfer of large files to a NAS (unauthorized operating error)
- Google signing flow blocked in loop
- Saccades in Bose and Sony helmets when connected to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi
- Audio jerks in helmets supporting audio APTX
- AV synchronization problems when Dolby treatment is activated
- Planting during a change in volume
- Apple Music corruption during the casting
- Empty reading of Spotify when the resolution Audio Maple is activated with Stereo Upmix
- The Google assistant who does not start after the update of Google GMS
- Full screen notification problem of SHIELD awards
- Saturation of the storage space by the Wi-Fi newspaper
- Filling the Shield reader
- Absence of sound when the helmet is connected to the controller and the DAP is activated
- GeForce Now crash after launch
- Video distortion in RGB 8-bit REC. 709
- Display of hard drive/corrupt USB flash reader after hot connection
- NAS file information which displays 0 B and not the actual capacity
- Mounted storage that is not listed after update
- Occasional planting in DRM applications
- Impossibility for Alexa Shield Skill to locate the Shield TV device
As usual, the update seems to be gradually deployed, and patience can be in order for a few more days before seeing it on your side.
