Paying invoices thanks to WhatsApp is it possible soon?
In China, for many years already that the messaging service WeChat acts as a general application on which it is possible to pay products or pay invoices. On the other hand, in the West, we have no equivalent yet. This equivalence, it could now come through WhatsApp, if we believe what Meta is preparing for India. It remains to be determined whether such uses will be authorized by us.
Indeed, in the beta version 2.25.3.15 of WhatsApp, The Specialized Android Site Authority was able to note that an invoice payment feature was present in the application. Meta is therefore preparing to extend its scope, but only in India for the moment. Note that it is already possible for Indian users to send money by UPI (Unified Payment Interface), but this passage to the All-Whatsapp could change everything. Thus, through the application, users will be able to pay their electricity, water or gas bills, or even their rent.
This should largely change the paradigm in India: previously, WhatsApp Pay could only add users gradually, thus limiting its ability to develop. With this now lifted restriction, Meta can extend WhatsApp Pay to all 532 million users in India, allowing it to compete directly on market leaders such as Phonepe and Google Pay. Especially since India is the largest WhatsApp market. Now remains to be determined whether such an advance could be possible in Europe.
