The world of patents continues to distill some development tracks for the next generations of brands products. Samsung also holds one, evoking the possibility of controlling other tech products at the end of your fingertips thanks to a Galaxy Ring.
It is more precisely a patent filed by the South Korean firm in July 2024, now made public by the OMPI (World Organization for Intellectual Property). The latter clearly illustrates the use of a connected ring on two devices in order to carry out remote actions on it.
The media notebookcheck, having relayed the patent this February 6, 2025, details that the technology would allow users “To navigate the screens, move files, scroll the content and press icons, all without directly touching the devices”.
A document transfer functionality between the different devices is also mentioned, like Apple does by making it possible to copy a file on a device of its ecosystem and paste it on another.
Regarding the operation of this new Samsung technology dedicated to connected rings, we learn that the only prerequisite would be the connection to the same WiFi network. The company evokes in passing that the system would allow you to enjoy a “Natural continuity” From one device to another, offering a simplified and fluid user experience.
As with any patent, there is no guarantee that it will lead to a finished product or that it will be integrated via an update. Concentrating for the moment on health features with the Galaxy Ring, Samsung should still leave the uses related to productivity in the background for a while. A change in strategy therefore still seems premature for the moment.
