The EU could authorize the sale of rechargeable hybrid cars after 2035
The application of the ban on the marketing of new thermal vehicles in 2035 seems more and more difficult to design, while electric cars have for the first time saw their sales drop in Europe in 2024 from a year to the other.
The European Union had already sold on summary fuels, leaving the door open to the marketing of certain internal combustion engines after 2035.
From now on, the EU would think about letting the rechargeable hybrids pass between the meshes of the net, according to information from the German magazine Der Spiegel.
Rechargeable hybrid, a very specific solution that is not suitable for all uses
However, Europe is precisely reviewing the approval of rechargeable hybrid vehicles, previously very optimistic, and which has pushed many customers, individuals and especially professional, to opt for this technology without having the suitable use.
Authorize only the rechargeable hybrids after 2035 would amount to taking the risk that customers will opt for this technology without frequently recharging their car, and that they thus pollute as much as a classic hybrid car, or even more due to the mass of batteries of higher capacity that equip the trendy models, incidentally more polluting to produce.
If this information is confirmed, it will be interesting to know how the EU intends to avoid avoiding such a situation. All this of course if so as thermal cars, excluding rechargeable hybrids and synthetic fuels, will be well prohibited for marketing in 2035.
