With its 15 Ultra, Xiaomi should strengthen its partnership with Leica by offering a design that recalls the classic cameras of the German brand. According to an image relayed on the social network Weibothe back of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra would sport a two-tone and bi-material finish, with a similar part and a silver metallic or glass section. This retro aesthetic, associated with its imposing circular photo module stamped Leica, confirms the resolutely photographic orientation of the device.

A photophone ready to do battle

One of the main arguments of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra lies in this impressive photo block housing four distinct modules:

  • A 50 megapixel Sony Lyt-900 main sensor with an f/1.63 opening.
  • An ultra-angle of 50 Mpx with a 14 mm focal length.
  • A 50 Mpx X3 telephoto lens.
  • A 200 MP periscope offering an X4.3 optical zoom.

All of the sensors would be signed Vario-Summilux, in order to offer image quality close to professional standards. It remains to be seen whether a variable opening will be integrated for even more flexibility.

A technical sheet at the endorsement

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra would have a 6.8 -inch curved amoled screen with a 2K definition and a cooling rate up to 120 Hz (LTPO). Under the hood, we would find the brand new Snapdragon 8 Elite of Qualcomm, with up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

With a battery revised upwards of 6000 mAh (compared to 5000 mAh for the 14 Ultra), and its inexpensive chip, the smartphone could enjoy excellent autonomy. On the software side, the device would turn very logically under Hyperos 2.0.

An imminent launch

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra should be officially presented in China on February 26, 2025, before a world release on the sidelines of the Barcelona Mobile World Congress in early March. It only remains to see if this model will hold its promises once in our labs.
