A data center in Essonne for AI
Arthur Mensch, co -founder of the French startup Mistral AI, spoke on Sunday February 9 on TF1. On the eve of the opening of the International Summit on AI organized in Paris, the entrepreneur announced the construction of a data center dedicated to artificial intelligence in Essonne. This project, which represents an investment of several billion euros, should see the light of day in the coming months on an area of several thousand m².
Mensch has also added that location in France was chosen for its energy efficiency, not to mention the quality of this electricity in terms of carbon emissions. The training and use of artificial intelligence already lead to a significant ecological impact, in particular across the Atlantic where the production of electricity from fossil resources is favored.
By creating a data center for artificial intelligence in France, the Mistral boss specifies that it will now be possible to master the entire value chain, ranging from the machine to the software. In France, if the first source of electricity production lies in nuclear (67.41 %), renewable energies, such as solar, wind or dams, represent 27.6 % of the bouquet.
